Chairman's report

Thanking the Land Owners

The people who allow us to take off from their hills, and land in the paddocks, provide us with a gift that makes much of our flying possible. As a sign of our appreciation, HGAWA presented deluxe hampers to four landowners just before Christmas. According to Rick Williams, who personally presented the hampers to the landowners from Mt. Bakewell, Serpentine and Mt Cole, they were very well received.

Mosman Park

Council response to our initial approach has been quite positive, and we got a good hearing when we met with the Mayor and CEO. We are curently sorting through the detail of pilot induction, maintaining safe separation from other users and general operaitonal issues. It's hard to put a firm timeline on negotiations of this nature, but we are making progress. Our committment is to arrive at an agreement that is sustainable and workable.

Summer General Meeting

The HGAWA General Meeting at Rod Merigan's place, York, on the 27th February drew around 50 pilots and friends, and provided a much needed opportunity for frivolity for those that braved the quite strong conditions at Bakewell that day. And those that didn't really need any excuse. There was a Presidents report, a Treasurers report, a report on recent HGFA activity, which was all done as quickly as possible so we could get back to doing what we came for.

There was also a Safety Officers Workshop, an essential activity to keep our Senior Safety Officers current.

Thanks to Rod and Jen Merrigan for generously providing the venue.

The minutes of meeting are on the HGAWA website (link on HGFA site/clubs)
